This week my distinguished guest is Pim Tuyls, CEO and Founder of Intrinsic ID! Pim and I investigate today’s biggest security trends, the details of Intrinsic ID’s new software-only solution called Zign, and why Pim thinks that US Cybersecurity Chip Act isn’t quite enough when it comes to legislation in the security arena.

The man, the myth, the legend Giovanni De Micheli (Nanni) joins me this week! Recently honored with the 2022 Phil Kaufman Award for Distinguished Contributions to Electronic System Design, Nanni has been a powerhouse in the world of EDA for a very long time. His work has expanded the fields of Network-on-Chip (NoC), high-level synthesis, and logic synthesis. In this episode, Nanni and I talk through what excites him about EDA today, what he thinks the next big innovation in EDA will be, and what he considers to be his greatest accomplishment so far. Also this week, I investigate new biosensor technology developed at the University of Technology Sydney that will allow you to operate devices using only thought control.

Did you know imec and VUB have teamed up to develop soft robotic systems that can feel pain and self-heal? Bram Vanderborght (imec) joins me this week to chat all about it! We investigate the challenges inherent to soft robotics, how an integrated approach and several breakthrough innovations made these robotic systems possible, and where Bram thinks soft robotics are headed in the future. 

IoT interoperability is the name of the game this week! Sujata Neidig from NXP joins me to talk all about Matter! We discuss the IoT interoperability issues Matter is looking to help solve, the topology of a Matter network, two new wireless MCUs within NXP’s Matter portfolio, and where Matter is headed in the future. Also this week, I investigate new seaweed based biodegradable health sensors developed by team of researchers from the University of Sussex and how these new sensors could change the way we experience personal healthcare and fitness monitoring technology.

In this week's military and aerospace themed Fish Fry podcast, longtime friend of the show Nigel Forrester and I investigate the role of timing in SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture) systems. We also discuss the benefits of assured positioning, navigation, and timing (A-PNT) for military applications, and why spoofing and jamming are critical challenges to solve in this domain.
